Summary/Abstract: National Occupational Standards are statements of the standards of performance individuals must achieve when carrying out functions in the workplace, together with specifications of the underpinning knowledge and understanding. Intelligence Analysis Standards are developed around the skills, knowledge and understanding that employers and practitioners agree someone needs in order to be able to do an analytical task very well. They set the nationally agreed standards of good practice for that role. They are a useful tool for making sure the job descriptions, roles and responsibilities and appraisals relate to those nationally agreed standards. They are also useful for identifying in which areas someone needs to develop their skills and knowledge so they can do their job well.
