Summary/Abstract: The article evokes events from the interwar time: the abdication of King Carol II, his departure abroad, street demonstrations. On September 6, 1940, an era and a historic decade had ended. An era, as Greater Romania did not exist anymore. Nearly 100,000 square kilometers, just over a third of its size, were included within the borders of other countries. Thus it had lost some of its 20 million inhabitants. The interwar period of Romania ended the decade of the reign of Carol II. On August 23, 1944, in the afternoon, the arrest of Marshal Antonescu and his ministers took place at the Royal Palace. It was a regime change more precipitous than the abdication of King Carol II. The twilight of the Romanian press also came to an end, a twilight which began in the last years of the reign of King Carol II, continued during the war and hastened between 1945-1947.
