Problems of glacial morphogenesis of North Podlasie Lowlands

Summary/Abstract: The North Podlasie Lowland is located in a zone of periglacial lowlands, traditionally interpreted as oldglaciallandscape. However, in recent decades opinions emerged that this area was covered by an ice sheet duringŚwiecie Stadial of the Vistulian glaciation. According to the author of this article, the Vistulian ice sheet covered thewhole central part of the Lowland and reached as far south as highlands of Milejczyce and Kleszczele. The aim ofthe article is to present results of geological and geomorphological research related to the TL dating of glacial sedimentssupporting this notion. The article includes a discussion with results of other studies on the age and range ofthe last glaciation in this region.
