New old objects in the public space of the cities of Opole Silesia in the context of local identity and remembrance of the past

Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on architectonic objects which have gained a new form or have re-appeared (were exposed or rebuilt) in contemporary landscape of a region of Opole Silesia. Some of such objects create the identity of places, while others have supra-local references and carry memories of national commonwealths. Finally, there are objects which visualize the real past, making the past palpable. The authors draw attention to the fact that in a region of complicated history, transformations of the public space acquirea specific character and applications not only in the urban dimension.
