Summary/Abstract: The trumpet occupies a leading position in jazz music, both as a solo instrument and as a member of ensembles and orchestras. Many famous trumpeters have made an important contribution to the evolution of universal jazz. This article presents a brief characterization of the activity and the interpretative style of the most prominent trumpeters of the swing from the ’30s- 40s of the 20th century: Henry „Red” Allen, James „Bubber” Miley, Charles Melvin „Cootie” Williams, Rex Stewart,Roy Eldridge, Bunny Berigan, Harry James, Clark Terry.
