Summary/Abstract: The research problem focuses on an attempt to define the condition of the elements of the accommodation base associated with qualified tourism on the territory of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains within the borders of the Second Polish Republic, including analysis of spatial pattern and size of individual tourist bases as well as analysis of their legal status. The analysis has led to an identification of 141 shelters, refuges and accommodation stations which in the year 1939 had at their disposal 4.2 thousand accommodation places. Thus in the above-mentioned period, the development of the tourist base in this area can be recognized as adequate.
