Summary/Abstract: The Image of the Monk (the Teacher) and the Neophyte (the Student) in the Vita of St. Basil the New in Ms. Nr. 170 from the Library of the Serbian Patriarchate / The article contains observations on the Vita of St. Basil the New. The text of the Vita is studied in a manuscript from the Library of the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade. The manuscript dates from the XV c. and contains several texts with eschatological content. The main purpose of this study is to summarize the most important features of the Vita’s characters with a special attention paid to the relation between the Teacher (St. Basil) and his Student (Gregorius). This type of spiritual relationship is a hagiographical topos, but in this particular text the interactions between St. Basil and Gregorius have some traits, unusual for this genre.
