Summary/Abstract: Family life patterns are changing for older adults, especially in connection with illness (infectious and chronic diseases) and intergenerational relationships in an aging society. This is a subject of interdisciplinary research. The currently aging generation is the so-called baby boom generation. This generation is relatively well educated, the women were (are) employed, they experienced migrations, cultural changes and technological changes. The patterns of their family life are different from the patterns in history. The paper is based on the thesis that the baby boom generation has a different aging process in intergenerational relationships. New research methods are being developed.
