Summary/Abstract: The article might be of interest for all those who care about the codnition and develeopment directions of foreign language teaching in the Polish education system. The core of the text is a an educationa triad i.e. wisdom, creativity and innovativeness. These are the features, abilities and attitudes that are necessary to design and introduce educational innovations effectivetely. The articel opens with relevant terminology; then it presents macrosystemic innovations in the Polish education system after 1989. The background for this retrospective is the the concept of a friendly environment in FLT. The key part of the paper is the analysis of needs and opportunities for introducing mikroinnovations in the process of foriegn language learning and teaching in Polish schools – both in light of the recent lockdown and in normal circumstances.
