Digital divide in information society

Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the issue of digital divide in the context of information society development. The paper presents the development of concepts of information society and explains the importance of Internet in shaping modern post-industrial society. The analytical part presents American and European experience in the minimization of digital divide. The main thesis of this paper is a statement about the need to establish universal access to Internet in order to minimize the effects of stratification of information society.
