Summary/Abstract: The author discusses the subject of degrowth in aviation and travel, using the existing theory of degrowth and comparing its elements with the literature on mobility and transport. He views equality and fairness, frugal abundance and locality as the basic elements of degrowth. In his considerations, he employs utopian thinking, which includes both a vision of a better world and the pragmatic steps that can be taken to strive for such a world. He discusses a postulate for economic and political relocation while looking for an appropriate scale for actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in aviation. Air mobility, mainly tourist and international mobility, has been increasing rapidly since the 1950s. In this sector, it is very difficult to decouple emissions from growth, and it requires steps to reduce travel. This calls for a vision of a different mobility that I outline around the title slogans: closer, slower, less.
