Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the study: to determine the place of Y. Stefanyk’s scientific work in Ukrainian literary, criticism and to find out the significance of his contribution in the understanding of the literary process in Ukraine in the twentieth century, the study of life and work of writers of the Ukrainian diaspora. Research methods: comparative-historical, biographical, descriptive, aesthetically-functional, comparatively-typological method, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, method of collecting, selecting and generalizing information. The scientific novelty of the study is to demonstrate a new, independent view of the writers of Ukrainian diaspora. Presentation, analysis and the study of creativity of writers of the Ukrainian diaspora within the literary studies. Conclusions. An analysis of Y. Stefanyk’s articles and essay on the work of Ukrainian diaspora writers revealed that fate presented talent to these people, but it didn’t provide any opportunities for their creativity work in Ukraine. Y. Stefanyk subtly felt the features of each style inherent in each artist, paying attention to the aesthetic value of every author. He was well aware of the colors of the language, the particular style of the artists he wrote about. Y. Stefanyk resurrected a whole galaxy of creators of spiritual culture in the memory of the Ukrainian people, those people worked on the margins without any spiritual alienation from their native land. The main points and conclusions of the study largely reflect the clear understanding of Ukrainian literature in the twentieth century and might be used to prepare a more comprehensive work on Ukrainian diaspora writers.
