Summary/Abstract: The main goal of the article is to draw attention to some barriers occuring in the communication between young and elderly people. The author cites examples of verbal behaviour that are treated as polite by young people, while by seniors they can be interpreted as rude or offensive. The other goal is to introduce the new term silver politeness.
