THE FUNCTIONS OF ADDRESSATIVE FORMS THAT ACCOMPANY REQUESTS IN THE CONTEMPORARY POLISH LANGUAGE

Summary/Abstract: The article contains a discussion of the most important function of addressative forms (AF) that accompany requests in the contemporary Polish language. The request could occur either with AF only or with AF and with acts of speech which increase its effectiveness. The main functions of AF which appear with requests are drawing recipient’s attention, keeping a relation between interlocutors and expressing positive sender’s attitude towards recipient. All these functions serve the main impressive function.
