SEMANTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE GROUP OF WORDS IN THE LITERARY TEXT (IN GORKIY'S STORY THE THREE)

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the semantics of synonymo-antonymous groups of words connected with one of the important themes of the story — the theme of purity and filth. Semantic structure of the words entering this group is contrasted to the semantic structure of the same words in the common language. As a result of this contrast, the author proves that some semantic features are common to the words of the given group and that the word „clean” unquestionably plays the main role with other words sub-ordinated to it.
