Summary/Abstract: In the article the author has presented a biography and the creative development of F. Sologub - one of the most original Russian writers living at the turn of the 19th century. The author has also mentioned the significance of some unexplored problems connected with the literary output of this outstanding, original prose writer, dramatist and satirist. Besides, the importance of Sologub’s greatest prose masterpiece – ‘The Little Devil’ has been stressed.
