Summary/Abstract: In the process of borrowing the plural form of English nouns with the morphemes as an exponent of plurality, there can occur a substitution of this morpheme by a corresponding Russian morpheme. In the absence of the substitution, morpheme -ы(-и) is added to the English plural form in order to avoid the incompatibility between the form and the meaning of a word. The evidence shows that the so-called depluralization occurs in Russian whenever the plural form of these nouns is primary and the singular form is secondary
