Summary/Abstract: The paper consists of case study analysis. The mid-17th century court book fromSanok (Southern Poland) includes a multi plot case of a noble woman planning to kill herhusband. The reason for this plan is falling in love with another man. The victims are finally her servants, accused for a witchcraft and assisting in witchcraft procedures. This sourcediscussed in the paper brings a rich material concerning a role and practice of witchcraft,as well its consequences for nobles and ordinary people. The paper reveals elements of anawareness of peasants on magical practices and related customs.
