Summary/Abstract: Thе article discusses the main features of ex lege succession under Art. 11 of the Inheritance Law and the practical issues caused by the legal imperfections of the text. Central is the issue of liability of the municipalities for inheritance obligations and the means of protection available to the heir’s creditors. It is suggested that the analogy of law gives a possible solution, de lege lata, to ensure the same protection provided to the testamentary legatees.
