Summary/Abstract: The authors refer to the period 1896–1907, when A. L. Montandon works at the Zoological Museum, at that time, on Polona Street. In 1895, on February 8, Antipa had submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Culture and Public Instruction, requesting the establishment of an assistant position at the Museum. Thus, on October 1, 1896, Arnold L. Montandon, who at the age of 44, was already one of the great entomologistshemipterologists of the time, was hired. He will deal with the enrichment, systematization and registration of insect collections for the future planned museum, which was to be inaugurated in the new building on 24 May 1908. The great entomologist donated numerous collections to the Museum, both before hir ing as an assistant, and afterwards. Being remunerated with a ridiculous salary, in order to continue his scientific work, in 1904 Montandon managed to sell his great Hemipteran-Heteropteran collection to the Ministry of Culture and Public Education, who donated it to the Museum. For his special contribution to the development of science in Romania at that time, in 1905, on April 11, Arnold Lucien Montandon was received in the Romanian Academy as a Foreign Corresponding Member of the Scientific Section. In 1907 he would have to quit the assistant post and leave the Museum. The note includes some unpublished documents related to this period.
