Summary/Abstract: The article presents a genological analysis of scientific stories dedicated to young people from the turn of the XIX and XX century whose authors were both eminent scholars and promoters of this period. The author points out features typical for narrative genres and at the same time elements characteristic for scientific texts. She proves that typical elements of artistic literature are subordinated to the cognitive and facilitating function. Moreover, the author attempts to organise/classify texts which popularise scientific knowledge taking into account the theory of family similarity of L. Wittgenstein and including the studied texts of a hybrid nature into the family of genres (next to reading books, stories, tales) of paraliterary texts aimed at popularising science among children and young people. According to the author, this family is related to a group of popular science genres (such as popular science: monograph, article, lecture, talk) intended for people who graduated from primary school and autodidacts.
