Summary/Abstract: Urbanisation has a direct influence on the security and defence field. Military operations tend to take place, with increasing frequency, in the complex environment of contemporary cities. In order to fight in this environment, it is necessary, first of all, to understand the similarities and differences between cities. Each city requires a unique approach, starting from the strategic level of planning, to the tactical level. At the same time, the cooperation of civil and military planners is needed in order to create a common legal framework for the design and defence of cities.
