Industrial revolutions and their impact on the development of economics

Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this article is to present industrial revolutions and their socio-economic consequences for the development of economics as a science. Special attention is given to showing the main characteristics of each revolution and presenting major changes in economic theories. The authors argue that the full picture of all shifts in economics, society and lives of individuals can be only visible from a long-term perspective. Therefore, it is difficult to determine the stage and the consequences of the current fourth industrial revolution for socio-economic development and evolution of economic theories.
