Summary/Abstract: In this paper, several editions of the story Palle Alone in the World, translated by Ivan Esih, are compared for differences in the grammatical and orthographic norms. The authors attempt to confirm the acceptability of such translations in studying changes that occur in standard idioms, and points out the most significant changes at the grammatical and orthographic level of the standard Croatian language.
