Summary/Abstract: The last decades have brought a gradual withdrawal of the state from the sphere of security, entrusting the resulting tasks to private entities to an increasingly larger extent. The paper looks at this phenomenon, focusing on the risks associated with doing so, especially against the backdrop of the numerous transformations taking place as a result of globalisation. The dissemination of free market mechanisms and their introduction into areas that have been subjected to strict state rationing have so far contributed to the transformation of shaping security policy and its management. They create conditions for the consolidation of the private military services market and the protection of the result, which creates global security corporations possessing significant capital resources, a corporate organization, and conceptual capabilities. Thanks to them, these entities do not limit their activities only to supporting state power structures, but often replacing them. This situation favours the shaping of a new model of public-private partnership, and the creation of a new network of connections in the sphere of security. This, in turn, is a threat to democratic mechanisms for managing the state and society, especially where internal structures are weakened and/or undermined.
