Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the regime for the execution of penalties by political prisoners in Romania during the communist period (1947-1989). With the benefit of hindsight, one could state that the communist political regime has left its mark, among other things, on the conditions of imprisonment of those convicted of political crimes. Among the most frequent crimes for which the political detainees were convicted we can mention: activity against the working class, the crime of breaching the constitutional order or the crime of conspiracy against the social order.
