Summary/Abstract: Children at the threshold of school education already have knowledge and display specific behaviors in the field of nutritional education they gained in kindergarten, but mainly in a rich non-formal space, i.e. family, peer environment, through contact with the media, etc. Based on experience, due to the messages of other people and through the interpretation of observed events, children build their own concepts of healthy eating. The research implemented for the purposes of this study was planned and carried out in accordance with the principles of constructivism and the so-called new sociology of childhood, i.e. taking into account the role of children as active entities who understand, interpret and process the social reality around them. The purpose of the qualitative research was to, based on the analysis of language statements and drawings of children completing the pre-school education stage, reconstruct children's concepts of healthy eating, i.e. to show how children interpret the category of “healthy eating”, and to determine the sources of their knowledge on this topic. Recognition of children's concepts of healthy eating allows us to create conditions as part of school activities aimed at confronting meanings and constructing by children the concept of proper, rational nutrition at the stage of early education.
