Summary/Abstract: This article aims to summarize the main features of Prof. Eduardas Volteris academic and public activity in Kaunas in 1922–1934. According to various sourses and historiographycal analysis, it can be said that this period of E. Volteris life was intense and meaningful. Professor actively contributed to the establishment of the National library and the University in Kaunas (Provisional Capital of the Republic of Lithuania). Much of his time and effort has been paid to the developement of Kaunas City Museum. Prof. E. Volteris was the main expert of Baltic studies and Archaeology in the Lithuanian University in Kaunas. Some contemporaries memoirs are told that the professor lectures were boring, do not attract many studens. However, E. Volteris was respected by colleagues and students for his erudition, scientific works, decency, kindness and merits to Lithuanian culture.
