Summary/Abstract: The main aim of the text is to present the level of knowledge in protection and safety among the first to the third grade primary school pupils living in socioeconomically marginalized localities. Therefore, examining this level is the key research topic. In relation to emergencies that may arise as a part of a pupil’s everyday reality, it is necessary to consider the self-awareness in narrower and broader social context and to develop practical skills necessary to protect one’s self and others(protection of life, health and property) with an emphasis on the background in which a pupil lives.Initially, the level of knowledge was found among 100 pupils. They were from 10 primary schools in socioeconomically excluded localities. The pupils were from the first to the third grades of primary schools specifically. There was a systematic thematic training with the pupils through project weeks, for two years subsequently. The project weeks were implemented in the school children’s club, where the educational process with clearly defined and prepared areas took place. Each project week was then completed with a knowledge test.
