Summary/Abstract: Theoretical study focuses on one of the most important representatives in the field of somatopaedia in the Czech Republic, František Bakule, whose teaching practice of tutor and educator for children and youth with physical impairments can draw many experiences even today. He was influenced significantly by new pedagogical currents, including personalities pedagogy, free school,social pedagogy, active school, art education movement. The aim of this study is to analyze the life and work of František Bakule, the founder of the Bakule Institute for Life and Work Education.
