Summary/Abstract: “Guidelines concerning formation, life and service of permanent deacons in Poland” (articles 44–48) of 2004 stress the significance of communities of origins for aspirants and candidates for deacons. The authors of the document point out the importance in the formation process of three environments of future deacons’ life, namely: their family, parish community and Church associations, Catholic organizations, pastoral centers. The role of each one is clearly defined: 1. A family should be invited to the process of “supporting their formation by prayer and respectful attitude. Even in case of parents or other family members who are against or indifferent to a selected vocation, honest and calm confrontation with their opinions can give stimuli which will contribute to more conscious and definite vocational maturity”. In case of married aspirants and candidates everything possible should be done to make marriage effectively strengthen them in their formation for deaconate. 2. A parish community is called to accompany them in the preparation process for deacon ordination “through prayer and participation in catechesis, which makes the faithful sensitive to this service” (article 27); 3. Church associations, from which aspirants and candidates for deaconate come, may become for them a source of help and support, help them to acquire spiritual maturity and genuine deacon availability.
