Academician Dimitrie Brândză – Representative of the Romanian Elite

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the substantial contribution made in science in general, and especially botany, by academician Dimitrie Brândză, in the knowledge of flora, but also in the discovery of unknown specimens in Romania. According to him „my main goal ... it is to draw attention especially to botanists on the interesting wealth of our still unknown flora” . Training of Romanian academician and scientific work that he has done, made him known in intellectual circles at home and abroad. Thus, The New York Botanical Garden collection keeps a copy of the book „Prodromul florei române sau enumerațiunea plantelor până astăzi cunoscute în Moldova și Valachia, 1879– 1883”, written by Dimitrie Brândză. Also, during reading the names of some personalities are outlined, who were part of the Romanian scholar circle of relationships.
