Nicolae Vasilescu-Karpen – the winner without the Nobel prize

Summary/Abstract: Man of science, physicist, engineer and Romanian inventor, Nicolae Vasilescu Karpen conducted pioneering work in various areas: elasticity, aerodynamis, atomic pshysics, thermodynamics, electrostatic, kinetic theory, electromagnetism, physical chemistry, electrochemistry, constructions. Original results of his work were appreciated by election as honorary member of the French Society of Electricians, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest and member of the Romanian Academy. His teaching work has been positively recognized; as well the works he published during his life. With reference these brief considerations, the present article is intended to be, at the end of 50 years from the death, a tribute of gratitude to Nicolae Vasilescu Karpen.
