Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with (in)equality between man and woman in „classical“ Islamic family law with regard to contemporary legislation in Islamic countries. It presents examples of inequality first of all in conclusion of marriage and dissolution of marriage as well as custody of childern (after divorce). Paper aims to explore position of Islamic jurists and western lawyers to often dicsussed topic.
