Summary/Abstract: The beginnings of teaching/studying Romanian language, literature and culture at the University of Turin date back to the second half of the nineteenth century and are closely related to the name and diplomatic (and cultural) activity of Vasile Alecsandri and Giovenale Vegezzi Ruscalla. This research aims to illustrate the history of the oldest Department of Romanian language and literature in Italy and to provide an overview of the current situation of the Romanian studies at the University of Turin.
