Konstruktionen der Zeitlichkeit und Räumlichkeit in Siegfried Lenz’ „Masurischen Geschichten“

Summary/Abstract: The present paper focuses on the linguistic realization of time and space references in the twenty short-stories published by Siegfried Lenz under the title ‘Sozärtlich war Suleyken: Masurische Geschichten‘ in 1955. This collection of short stories set in his Masurian homeland made the first big commercial success for S. Lenz, who is now an author that belongs to the canon of German and world literature. The main goal of the present paper is answering the following questions: how is the information about time and space in those texts linguistically communicated and which means of expression does the author provide for his readers in order for them to decipher the spatial and temporal references for a good orientation within the text? Various (still not exhaustive) examples from the texts of the short-stories have been examined und evaluated in order to answer those questions.
