Genre composition of Slovak women’s magazines

Summary/Abstract: The study presents the results of research into the genre composition of three Slovak female fashion magazines (Eva, Madam Eva, Evita). It is based on the categorization of contemporary journal genres by T. Rončáková, which includes both new and traditional genre models. In addition to the genre composition itself, the authors analyzed the presence of the author’s opinion, the presence of the first verb and the presence of hidden advertising in the texts. They compared the results with the genre statistics of general-weekly social magazines, which allowed them to more clearly define the position of women’s fashion magazines in the media field.
