Summary/Abstract: Like Art & Crafts, of which it comes to a large extent, Art Nouveau is also a deeply romantic trend - the last romantic stream. It was a trend of bourgeois intelligentsia desirous of changing the social condition of the masses of the big cities in a beautiful, good shape. And good taste meant the subordination of forms of technological and functional reasons, ultimately social. And that’s because the products, on a large scale, were intended - at least as an intent - for ordinary people. It was also a romantic trend because it was a great quest, a creative effort in the field of the form, that is, one that would be appropriate to the new content. And like Arts & Crafts, it can be viewed, with solid arguments, as the first great modern current - about the same reason. It was, at the same time, an epilogue and a prologue.
