Summary/Abstract: The article A Saint or a Fool? examines the motif of trust in the novel called St Francis by the Greek writer of the first half of the twentieth century, Nikos Kazatzakis. It proves that trust is an essential element of experiencing franciscan spirituality that is based on the Father-child relationship. Based on the interpretation of the text the article searches for the origin and impact of trust and also analyzes the attitude of the character of St Francis of Assisi towards God´s presence in everything that is created.
