Summary/Abstract: The article discusses The Flax, a fantasy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. In my reading, I focus on details of the tale’s text. I point out various contexts that expand and diversify the reading of the tale, such as: cultural, religious, biblical, artistic, literary and cinematic ones.
