Summary/Abstract: The human translation was long thought to be unattainable for Machine Translation systems in what concerns the level of quality. However, this idea is challenged every day by new technologies in the field. CAT Tools integrate Machine Translation as part of their working system and Machine Translation Post-Editing seems to open a new field of activity for the professionals in the translation industry. Is this complex profession going to be replaced by technology? This article aims at approaching the historical roots of Machine Translation as well as its modern paradigms in order to offer a better image on what this revolutionary instrument means for the translation industry.
