Summary/Abstract: Buffon was one of the greatest natural historians of his times, but also a great writer. In his colossal work Histoire Naturelle, published in 36 volumes, he was able to comprise, like no one else, the description of the entire planet and the world of animals. Unfortunately, from his fabulous work too little was translated in Romanian. Perhaps, the younger generation would have shown more respect and care for nature if the messages from Buffon’s work had been much easier to be accessed by students and common people.
