Summary/Abstract: An analysis of mistakes and achievements within the context of Romanian language teaching can raise awareness of and help students overcome some phonetic, morphological, syntactic, lexical and pragmatic difficulties in their study of Romanian as a foreign language in the framework of the Preparatory Year of Romanian Language for Foreign Students (APLR)within the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB) (foreign students from African, Asian, European and Latin American countries). The most frequent mistakes made by foreign students demonstrate the need to develop specific didactic materials, targeted at foreign students, materials that could facilitate their understanding and assimilation of the linguistic structures in Romanian. In addition to the grammatical and lexical difficulties, the pragmatic valences that arise should also be taken into account through a set of communication strategies suitable for pragmatic and intercultural aspects.
