Summary/Abstract: The author presents the “Children's Ombudsman” institution starting with terminological clarifications and going on with the emergence of the Ombudsman institution, later followed by the Children's Ombudsman institution. The main part of the study is devoted to the Children's Ombudsman institution in various European countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Malta, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Wales. The last part of the study presents the European Network of Ombudsmen for Children (ENOC).
