Summary/Abstract: Dîvânü Lügâti’t-Türk is one of the first encyclopedic philological works in the history of literacy of Turkic nations. Therefore, this work is of great importance for studying lexicographical tradition and grammar of Turkic languages and dialects. Actually, this piece of work titled Dîvânü Lügâti’t-Türk by Mahmud Kashgari represents a common language treasure which integrates all the peculiarities of Turkic languages in the 11th century. Even today, the significance of this work is universal because, in the first place, this encyclopedic work can be characterized as a common language treasure of all Turkic nations. The primary goal of this paper is to analyze grammatical and semantical structures of the denominal derivative suffix -lA in Dîvânü Lügâti’t-Türk. This paper, based on concrete contextual examples from Dîvânü Lügâti’t-Türk, analyzes all the grammatical peculiarities of the denominal derivative suffix -lA which is added to the word root or stem. An analysis like this should contribute greatly to the study of Turkish language from a diachronic perspective, but it also should contribute to the better understanding and knowledge of grammatical and semantical structures of derivative suffixes in Turkish language.
