Nekoliko nišana na prostoru Tuholja
A few tombstones in the region of Tuholj

Summary/Abstract: Tombstones nišani are significant cultural and historical monuments and they testify about life of people in the past and existence of muslim settlements in the region of Tuholj a hundred years ago. Some of the graveyards with tombstones are located near by necropolis of stećci - medieval tombstones. On a certain number of tombstones there are ornaments that can also be seen on the bosnian stećci (a sword, an axe, a saber, a rosette). Those common elements on the mentioned tombstones and nearness of graveyards and necropolis are giving a clear determinant of medieval tombstones heirs - nišani, which represent graves of islamized inhabitants of Bosnia, (Good Bosnians) as well as their descendants. There is a great number of old tombstones in the early mentioned graveyards in this paper which beauty and different shapes stand out. A few old tombstones are presented in this paper.Despite the richness of the cultural heritage which are represented by nišani of Tuholj, it must be point that old graveyards are pretty neglected, many of the old tombstones are destroyed and remaining tombstones are left to people carlessness, because of that it is necessary to take crucial actions to protect these valuable cultural and historical monuments
