Summary/Abstract: In her novel production, Fatou Diome writes on the question of hybridity in a plural approaches, from a linguistic and literary point of view, by including it in the theme of immigration, that is to say in the African immigrant’s European experience. When the immigrant leaves his homeland for the “European Eldorado”, he seeks to make a dream come true. By means of the writing, Fatou Diome relives and reinterprets the African’s “ambiguous adventure” in Europe. The writing becomes a moment and a way to celebrate language through the literature. By using the verbal creation, the rhetoric and the caricature, the novelist develops an original conception of hybrid writing, understood as the storytelling of the immigrant’s ambiguous adventure. She then seeks to go beyond the outdated themes of the blackman's revolt, the reaffirmation of African cultural identity and the racism. In this cultural whirlwind, the “exiled” woman is in search of her own identity, because she is the target of different forms of injustice inside and outside of her native land. Her cry, however heart-breaking it may be, tries to go beyond the cultural shock.
