Summary/Abstract: The concernments of Spiru Haret regarding the modernization of the physical education in our country at the end of the 19th century are less known during his ministry. In the following text is underlined that the minister put an extraordinary accent on the cultivation of the rounder game among the pupils, a game of the Romanian abroad. Due to Spiru Haret, starting from the year 1898, there had been organized the first National Championship of Rounders.
