Summary/Abstract: Graduate of Faculty of Medicine in Bucharest in 1870, he obtained the degree of military surgeon and he begin the studies of Science Faculty in 1871. He studied Chemistry taught by Carol Davila, which has become the model that he has followed. In 1872 he occupied the job of assistant chemist at the Chemical Laboratory of the Faculty, led by AN Bernath – Lendway (1836–1924). În 1875 he promotes the internal exam of Eforie Hospitals in Bucharest. He has published scientific articles in the magazines and the newspapers of the time, „The Universe“, „The Trumpet of Carpathians“, „The future“, The newspaper „Oltul „. Concerned about the development of science he participated at the foundation of several companies: Society of Medical Students (1875), The Scientific Society (1890) and in 1902 The Association for the Advance and Extent of Science (ARPIS). During the War of Independence, he led one of the Red Cross ambulances In Plevna. Between 8th of July –27th of September 1878 he made a trip to Austria-Hungary and France for study thoroughly the hydrotherapy problems. He carried out an intense teaching activity and made outstanding contributions in science. The recognition of its scientific abilities is certified by the titles of member of the Romanian Academy in 1889 and full member in 1899 During 1913 – 1916 he was the President of the Romanian Academy.
