Summary/Abstract: The second half of the 18th century was a period of increased influence of English culture and civilization in France. These inspirations were noticeable not only in literature and everyday life, but also in philosophy and political thought. The works of Voltaire and Montesquieu exerted a significant influence on the development of Anglophilia among French thinkers, who wished to adopt some English solutions. This primarily refers to a moderate monarchy, as well as economic liberalism, which, as it was believed, would contribute to economic growth. Despite the abundance of these narratives, it seems that it was surface Anglomania, and not in-depth philosophical and political discourse, that took firm roots in France.
